1. How long have you been in residential real estate sales? Is it your full-time job?

While experience is no guarantee of skill, real estate, like many other professions, is mostly learned on the job.

2. What designations do you hold?

Designations such as GRI and CRS, which require that agents take additional, specialized real estate training, are held by only about 4% of real estate practitioners.

3. Can you recommend service providers who can assist me in obtaining a mortgage, making repairs on my home, and other things I need done?

A realtor should be able to give you several referrals for just about anything you need relating to home ownership and the home buying process.

4. What's your business philosophy?

While there's no right answer to this question, the response will help you assess what's important to the agent. You will want a Realtor that delivers exceptional service and results with the highest level of integrity.

5. What technology will you use to assist me in the home buying process?

Your Realtor should be abale to email you properties daily. They should have also a web site that enables you to search properties by price or by location. An exceptional Realtor should be able to search properties with you while you are in the car via satelite on their lap top computer. These technology advancements will really enhance your home buying experience by making the most current information readily avaialable to you.

6. How will you keep me informed about the progress of my transaction?

Again, this is not a question with a correct answer, but that one reflects your desires. Do you want updates twice a week or don't want to be bothered unless there's a hot prospect? Do you prefer phone, e-mail, or a personal visit?

7. Could you please give me the names and phone numbers of your three past clients?
